Nonprofit Funding & Operations
Strategist
Kamilah Torres is a nonprofit consultant and community advocate with more than 25 years of experience across the healthcare and nonprofit sectors. Raised on the island of Puerto Rico, her work is deeply shaped by both professional expertise and lived experience — as a teen and single mother, someone who has experienced homelessness, and a survivor of intimate partner violence and sexual assault. Navigating systems that were not built with people like her in mind has given her a firsthand understanding of barriers, resilience, and the critical role of community and language access.

Through Catalysta Consulting, Kamilah partners with mission-driven organizations to strengthen funding strategies and build equitable, culturally responsive systems that reflect the communities they serve. She is a Certified Community Health Worker and Medical Interpreter and holds a degree in Healthcare Management. More than credentials, she brings empathy, cultural humility, and a belief that every person — regardless of language, background, or circumstance — deserves to be seen, supported, and heard.

Kamilah is the mother of two adult sons and a proud grandmother of three. She finds joy in travel, film, dancing, and the ocean — especially when they offer space for connection, reflection, and healing.
