Nonprofit Funding Strategist & Consultant
Kamilah is a nonprofit consultant, community advocate, and raised on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico with deep roots in both the healthcare and nonprofit sectors. With over 25 years of experience, her work is grounded in lived experience—as a teen and single mother, as someone who has faced homelessness, and as a survivor of intimate partner violence and sexual assault. Having had to navigate systems not built for people like her, she knows firsthand the barriers and the power of community, language, and resilience.

Through her consulting practice, Catalysta Consulting, LLC, she helps mission-driven organizations develop funding strategies and build more equitable, culturally responsive programs that truly reflect the communities they serve. Kamilah holds certifications as a Community Health Worker and Medical Interpreter, and a degree in Healthcare Management. But more than anything, she brings her full self to the work: her cultural pride, her compassion, and her belief that every person—no matter their language, background, or circumstance—deserves to be seen, supported, and heard.

She is the mother of two adult sons and the proud grandmother of three. She finds joy in travel, movies, dancing, and the ocean—especially when they bring her closer to new cultures, new stories, and new chances to rest and heal.
Why am I telling you this?

I understand how nonprofits operate. While each one is unique, their common goal is to serve their community and create meaningful impact. I also recognize how a lack of organization and focus can harm sustainability and limit what you are working to achieve. Just as importantly, I know the value of cultivating and nurturing relationships—and how they can either strengthen or undermine the mission and vision of an organization.
